The Caralight photochemical system works like sunlight – only faster.

A comparison of the benefits of the Caralight Photochemical System versus alternative control methods is provided in the following table.

The Caralight photochemical system will reduce facilities’ dependence on process modification measures, which limit production and can damage multi-million dollar equipment. The Caralight photochemical system relieves industrial facilities from the need to substitute existing raw materials for expensive, high quality raw materials, which threaten the economic viability of the facilities.

Since process modification and raw feed substitution are often not sufficient to meet the increasingly stringent regulations, vendors of add-on air pollution control equipment have entered the market for dioxin-furan emission control. Competing add-on control techniques for dioxin-furan include (1) activated carbon injection, (2) thermal oxidization, and (3) lime injection. Caralight believes that activated carbon injection and thermal oxidization will represent the main competition for the photochemical system. The environmental liability of using activated carbon is high since the dioxin-furans are collected on a solid media and requires proper disposal. Thermal oxidization requires large quantities of natural gas which is expensive and contributes to greenhouse emissions.
