Dioxin-Furans
While "dioxin-furans" is not yet a household term, regulated industries recognize that emissions of dioxin-furans are a high priority concern. Dioxin-furans are a group of highly toxic set of air pollutants that accumulate in food products. Emissions deposit on the ground and enter the food chain to create human health hazards.

These compounds are emitted from a wide variety of combustion processes. Dioxin-furans are stable, non-soluble compounds formed in industrial processes. The inherit characteristics of dioxin-furans make them an especially difficult pollutant to control using most existing add-on air pollution control equipment. The most effective method for reducing dioxin-furan formation for large industrial sources is through process modification, which hinders process production, or through the use of higher quality, more expensive materials.
